System Architect Cloudian S3 Storage

Published 29 of July

  • Service Design & Productization: Architect and build secure, multi-tenant Cloudian S3 storage solutions designed to be consumed directly by end-customers as a service.
  • Infrastructure-as-Code & Automation: Develop, implement, and maintain automation pipelines using Terraform and Ansible to fully automate storage provisioning, tenant onboarding, and lifecycle management.
  • Storage Architecture & Management: Design and manage enterprise-scale Cloudian S3 clusters, ensuring high availability, peak performance, and efficient data distribution.
  • Traffic & Performance Optimization: Utilize HyperBalance to optimize load distribution across storage nodes, maximizing throughput and eliminating bottlenecks for customer applications.
  • AI-Powered Monitoring: Proactively monitor system health, capacity, and analytics using HyperIQ, Prometheus, and Grafana to ensure stringent customer SLAs are met.
  • Data Protection & Resiliency: Design robust backup, multi-region replication, and disaster recovery strategies using S3-compatible object storage systems.
  • Security, Compliance & Multi-Tenancy: Implement strict identity and access management (IAM), bucket policies, encryption protocols (at rest and in transit), and multi-tenant isolation to safeguard customer data.
  • Cross-Functional Integration: Collaborate with DevOps, Network, and Cloud teams to integrate S3 object storage with modern cloud-native tools, applications, and CI/CD pipelines.

Minimum requirements

• Core Experience: 8 10+ years in storage engineering, cloud infrastructure, or a similar role,

with a heavy emphasis on AWS S3 APIs and distributed object storage systems.

• Automation Expertise: Strong experience treating infrastructure as code (IaC) using

Terraform and configuration management via Ansible to build self-service infrastructure.

N8N for orchestration and Cycloid as catalogue of service exposure.

• Service Delivery Mindset: Proven track record of designing storage solutions that are

exposed via APIs or self-service portals for internal or external customer consumption.

• Cloudian Ecosystem: Hands-on experience or deep technical familiarity with Cloudian

HyperStore, HyperBalance (load balancing), and HyperIQ (analytics).

• Protocols & Integration: Deep understanding of REST APIs, S3 API compliance, IAM policies,

and networking protocols.

• Monitoring & Observability: Proficiency with modern observability stacks (e.g., HyperIQ,

Prometheus, Grafana) for capacity planning and performance tuning.

• Security & Compliance: Strong knowledge of data security, including KMS, TLS/SSL, object

locking (WORM), and compliance standards.

• Soft Skills: Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical storage

architectures into clear, user-centric service offerings.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience with Cloudian HyperStore, HyperBalance, HyperIQ, or similar

distributed storage platforms.

• Knowledge of hybrid cloud storage setups (integrating on-prem and cloud storage solutions).

• Experience with containerized environments like Docker and Kubernetes (using object

storage with Kubernetes).

• Familiarity with data migration and replication strategies for large-scale storage

environments.

• Experience building custom API wrappers or integrating storage provisioning into IT Service

Management tools (like ServiceNow).

• Knowledge of hybrid cloud storage setups (seamless replication between on-remises

Cloudian and public AWS S3).

• Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Cloudian Certified Expert, or

advanced Terraform/Ansible certifications).

• EU citizenship.

• Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required; proficiency in any other European language is a plus.
