AI Developer
Description
The Role
We are looking for a developer to join our delivery team on a staffing basis, embedded in our team in Lisbon, working directly under the Managing Director.
You will own your work. There is no layer of project managers between you and the problem, and no committee deciding what gets built next. You will be expected to understand the brief, make technical decisions, and ship.
The projects vary. One engagement might be a RAG pipeline for a legal team. The next might be an agent that plugs into a client's ERP. You will need to adapt to different stacks, different client contexts, and different constraints, and do it without needing everything figured out before you start.
What You Will Do
• Build functional AI prototypes and client-facing pilots from discovery through to handover
• Integrate LLMs, RAG systems, and AI agents into existing client products and workflows
• Adapt to whatever stack the client context requires, and get productive in it quickly
• Work with significant autonomy: own your technical decisions, raise blockers early, and drive your work to completion
• Collaborate directly with the MD and client stakeholders, without layers in between
• Move at the pace the work demands: our pilots are measured in weeks, not quarters
Minimum requirements
What We Are Looking
For HARD REQUIREMENTS
• 3 or more years of software development experience, full-stack or backend
• Proven, hands-on experience building with AI tooling: LLMs, RAG, agents, or similar. Not just awareness of the space, but something you have actually shipped
• Comfortable picking up unfamiliar stacks and technologies without needing a structured onboarding programme
• Able to work with significant independence: you manage your own time, your own decisions, and your own output
STRONG SIGNALS
• You have built something real with AI outside of your day job, a side project, an open source contribution, anything that shows genuine curiosity
• You get excited by the productivity delta that AI is creating right now, and you want to be the person delivering that to companies that have not figured it out yet
• You have worked in early-stage or startup environments and found the ambiguity energising rather than frustrating
• You have experience with cloud infrastructure and understand what it takes to move something from prototype to production
NOT A FIT IF
• You need a structured environment, detailed specs, and close oversight to do your best work
• Your AI experience is theoretical: you have read about it but not built with it
• You are looking for a stable corporate role with slow-moving projects and predictable scope
